Five years ago today December 8th 2004, the world was stripped of an incredible talent, Diamond Darrell, Dimebag or just DIME.
i got to meet Dime one time, at Hara Arena in Dayton, Ohio. i had gone to the box office, where my friend Francie worked, to pick up a ticket for the show that night. i was also in the middle of getting a gargoyle tattooed on my head, which later ended up being one of the best decisions i have ever made…
So as i was buying my ticket, i could hear Pantera doing a sound check and since i had a friend there, i just stood at the gates and listened. Just a few minutes later, still playing guitar, i guess by wireless, Dime came right up to the gate at the front of the arena. i was the only one there and we talked for a few minutes, he was really cool and i showed him my new tattoo and he said it was cool. He gave me a pick and said have fun at the show, and went back to being an awesome rock star.
i went back to getting tattooed, and went to the show that night and did have a great time. Thank you Dimebag! Rest in Piece
